Privacy Policy
Version 5 · effective 2026-10-06T00:00:00+00:00
This Privacy Policy explains how Tap2Detail ("Tap2Detail," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the Tap2Detail mobile apps, app.tap2detail.com and related services (the "Platform"). It applies to customers, detailers and visitors.
- INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information you give us
-
Account information: email address, sign-in method, and, if you sign in with Apple or Google, the name and email address that provider shares with us (Apple may give us a private relay email address).
-
Profile information: your display name; for detailers, business name, bio, service area, approved services, availability and portfolio photos.
-
Role information: whether your account is a customer account, a detailer account, or has a detailer application, and its status.
-
Vehicle information: vehicle type, make, model, year, color, condition notes, and vehicle photos you add.
-
Service requests and job information: service type, offered price, counteroffers, booking details, service status, additional-service proposals, completion approvals, problem reports and job history.
-
Service address and access notes you enter for a job.
-
Photos: request/condition photos, detailer before-service and after-service photos, and detailer portfolio photos.
-
Ratings and reviews you write; support cases and safety reports; and messages exchanged with the other participant in a booked job through customer-detailer booking chat.
-
Legal records: which versions of our Terms, Privacy Policy and Provider Agreement you agreed to or acknowledged, and when.
-
Phone number: a U.S. phone number for your account, which we ask customers and detailers to provide before booking or taking jobs. It is private to your account: it is never shown to customers, detailers or other users, including the other participant in your booking.
Information collected automatically
- Location: the precise location of the vehicle pin or address you choose for a request; a detailer's service-area center and radius; and, while a detailer is on the way to or has arrived at a job and has the app open, the detailer's current device location. We do not collect location in the background. If you allow location in your device settings, the app uses it only while you are using the app.
- Device and push information: if you turn on notifications in the native app, our push provider receives a device push token and a random identifier we create for your account (not your name or email).
- Usage information: in-app events about how features are used (for example, that a request was created), linked to your account and used to operate and improve the Platform.
- Diagnostic information: technical error and crash reports (for example, the error message and the page where it happened) collected by our hosting provider to keep the Platform working.
- Server logs: IP address, browser or device type, and request times, kept for security and reliability.
Information from third parties
- Stripe: for customers, payment status and payment identifiers (not your full card number); for detailers, payout onboarding status and whether payouts are enabled. Detailers give identity, tax and bank information directly to Stripe, not to Tap2Detail.
- Apple and Google sign-in: basic account details described above.
- Google Maps Platform: address suggestions, map positions and directions based on what you search or choose.
- HOW WE USE INFORMATION
- To create and manage accounts and sign-in.
- To match requests with nearby eligible detailers, run offers and bookings, and show job status.
- To process payment authorizations, captures, refunds and detailer payouts through Stripe.
- To share necessary job information between a customer and their detailer, including messages they exchange in booking chat (see Section 3).
- To let authorized Tap2Detail Support or Operations personnel contact you by phone when needed about a booking, urgent support, safety, a dispute or your account. We do not use your phone number for advertising or marketing, and we do not use it to track you.
- To review detailer applications and enforce our Terms, Provider Agreement and Community Guidelines.
- To provide support, investigate problem reports, damage complaints and disputes, and keep the Platform safe.
- To send in-app notifications and, if you turned them on, push notifications about your jobs and account.
- To detect, prevent and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents and legal claims.
- To understand usage, fix errors and improve the Platform.
- To comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- INFORMATION SHARED BETWEEN CUSTOMERS AND DETAILERS
- Before booking, eligible nearby detailers see the service type, vehicle details, condition notes and photos, offered price and an approximate area and distance, but not your exact address or private access notes.
- After the customer books a detailer and payment authorization succeeds, that assigned detailer sees the exact service address and access notes while the job is active.\n- After payment authorization succeeds, the customer and the assigned detailer can exchange text messages in a private chat for that booking. Each message is shared with the other participant in that booking. Booking chat is not available for messaging arbitrary users.
- Your phone number is never shared with the other participant in your booking.
- While the detailer is on the way or has arrived, the customer sees the detailer's live location on a map.
- Customers see a detailer's public profile, including business name, bio, portfolio, approved services and rating.
- Before-service and after-service photos are visible to the customer, the assigned detailer and Tap2Detail staff.
- Reviews are published on the detailer's public profile, showing the customer's first name or "Former customer" after deletion.
- SERVICE PROVIDERS / PROCESSORS We share information with companies that process it on our behalf, only as needed to provide their services:
- Stripe: payments, payment authorizations, payouts and detailer onboarding.
- Hosting and backend providers: hosting, database, authentication, file storage, server functions and error diagnostics for the Platform.
- Google Maps Platform: maps, address search, geocoding and directions. When you open turn-by-turn directions, Apple Maps or Google Maps may receive the destination.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, if you choose them.
- OneSignal, Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivery of push notifications.
- Email delivery provider: sign-in, confirmation and password-reset emails.
- Despia: the native app framework that runs the Platform on iOS and Android.
- Google Fonts: may receive your IP address and browser details when fonts load.
-
LEGAL AND SAFETY DISCLOSURES We may disclose information if we believe in good faith it is needed to comply with law, legal process or a government request; to enforce our Terms; to protect the rights, property or safety of users, the public or Tap2Detail; or to respond to fraud, security or payment disputes (for example, to a card issuer through Stripe). Booking messages may be processed to operate the chat, protect Platform safety, moderate content, investigate reports and resolve disputes. Authorized Tap2Detail Support or Operations personnel may review booking messages when handling a report, safety issue or dispute, and that access is logged. Authorized Support or Operations personnel may view your phone number only when handling a booking, support, safety, dispute or account matter, and each such access is logged. In an emergency, we may share information with emergency services. If Tap2Detail is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to this policy.
-
NO SALE OR SHARING FOR ADVERTISING Tap2Detail does not sell personal information and does not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. We have not done so in the past 12 months.
-
DATA SECURITY We use measures designed to protect information, including encryption in transit, access controls that limit each user to the data their role allows, private storage with short-lived links for job photos, server-side checks for payments, and audited, reason-required staff access to exact job locations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
-
DATA RETENTION We keep information for as long as your account is active and as needed for the purposes in this policy. Specifically:
- Detailer live location: deleted when the job leaves the on-the-way/arrived stage. We keep no location history.
- Job photos (request and before/after photos): kept as part of the job record for evidence, generally for approximately 90 days after a job ends, and may thereafter be deleted as part of periodic data-retention reviews. They may be kept longer where reasonably necessary for transactions, disputes, fraud prevention, safety, legal obligations or enforcement.
- Portfolio photos: removed from public view immediately when the detailer removes them or deletes their account.
- Phone number: kept while your account is active and updated whenever you change it; deleted when your account is deleted.
- In-app notifications, usage events and technical logs: kept for limited periods and then deleted.
- Job history, booking messages, payment and payout records, legal acceptance records, and safety, support and fraud records: kept with the booking record for as long as reasonably necessary for transaction records, legal, tax, accounting, safety, fraud-prevention, reports and dispute purposes. After account deletion, retained booking messages and these other records may remain linked to an anonymized identifier rather than identifying the deleted user. Stripe keeps its own records under its privacy policy and legal obligations.
- ACCOUNT / DATA DELETION You can delete your account in the app at Account > Privacy & data > Delete account, or by emailing support@tap2detail.com from your account email. Deletion may be blocked until active jobs, payments in progress, open support cases or evidence holds are resolved; the app tells you why. When deletion completes:
- your sign-in account is deleted and you can no longer sign in;
- your profile and public detailer profile are anonymized, your vehicle details are erased, your vehicle photos and other account files that are not job evidence are deleted, and your portfolio is removed from public view;
- a detailer's service area and availability are cleared;
- your push identifier is deleted;
- your phone number is deleted;
- reviews you wrote remain but show as "Former customer";
- completed job history, booking messages, job evidence photos (until their retention period ends), payment records, legal acceptance records, and safety and support records may be kept with the booking record under an anonymized identifier, as described in Section 8. These retained records do not keep the deleted user personally identified through their former account or profile. If you signed in with Apple, you can also remove Tap2Detail from your Apple ID settings (Settings > your name > Sign-In & Security > Sign in with Apple).
-
YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access or receive a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to object to or limit certain uses. You can view and update much of your information in the app, and you can delete your account as described above. To make any other request, email support@tap2detail.com. We will verify your request using your account email and respond within the time required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows; we may ask for proof of authorization.
-
CALIFORNIA PRIVACY DISCLOSURES If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, gives you the rights described in Section 10, including the right to know, delete and correct, and the right to opt out of sale or sharing (we do not sell or share). In the past 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (such as email, phone number, account ID and push identifier); customer records and commercial information (such as job and payment history); geolocation data (precise location for requests and detailers' live location during a job); photos and other audio/visual information you upload; internet or electronic activity (in-app usage and diagnostics); and professional information that detailers provide in their applications and profiles. We use precise location only to provide the services you request, which is a permitted purpose, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. Sources, purposes, recipients and retention are described in Sections 1, 2, 4 and 8. We disclose personal information for business purposes to the service providers in Section 4 and between customers and detailers as described in Section 3.
-
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY The Platform is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or allow anyone under 18 to create an account. If you believe a child has given us information, contact support@tap2detail.com and we will delete it.
-
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY We may update this Privacy Policy. Each version has a version number and effective date. If we make a material change, we will ask you to review and acknowledge the new version in the app.
